Moving Along

Well, as the rain comes and goes in Charlotte, so does the progress with the house.  We spent the weekend in Alabama for a friend's wedding and the work continued on the money pit.  Below are some pictures of the progress ... no smart anecdotes to accompany the pictures ... it is Monday and the creative writing juices just aren't flowing.  However, have you noticed who is atop the National League West standings???  Today's answer to the daily double ... my small market San Diego Padres (that one is for you Rick)!

Starting with the Master Bedroom .... The ladder looking picture is of the rafters in the middle of master.  The one on the left shows the unsupported ceiling addition and on the right, shows the corrective action - adding ceiling hangers to the beams.  Next in line is a picture of the same thing, just shows the re-framed closet(s) and the horizontal support on the opposite side. Last in line is a picture of my (the smaller closet) which houses the plumbing for the master bathroom.  The previous owner had the shower head on the opposite side of the hot/cold water taps .... strange.  Needless to say, we moved it to the other side to try and make it more normal.

This next set of pictures chronicles the next phase of the kitchen remodel / update.  On the left you can see where we took down the wall that blocked off the kitchen from the family room and on the right was a full wall the blocked off the kitchen from the dining room ... as you can see we took that wall all the way out.

Now we move on to the new frameout for the kitchen area. We made the wall from the kitchen to the living room a half wall and took out the wall from the kitchen to the dining room.

Below is a picture of the closet frameout for the guest bedroom.  Finally, we took a peak at the hardwood floors underneath the carpet ... seems usable to us!

So, from today's conversation it sounds like there is a crew in the house actually getting some work done. PROGRESS!!
